Hello! We are Purism, and we’re trying something different.

We are pushing the most ambitious hardware+software liberation effort ever undertaken.

Purism follows a strict belief in users’ rights to privacy, security, and freedom. We developed Purism so that users can have access to the highest quality computers without compromising these beliefs. The founder of Purism developed the Philosophical Contract, that we all abide by, which was adopted from the Free Software Foundation, and expanded to include hardware manufacturing as it relates to software.

To summarize Purism in a nutshell:

  1. We believe in making complete software freedom an attainable standard for people to adhere to, upholding users’ rights to privacy and freedom without compromising on the potential of personal computers.
  2. We simultaneously fight planned obsolescence and provide the latest and greatest technology in a convenient package for enthusiasts and the public good, while pushing for users’ rights all the way through the manufacturing supply chain.
  3. We accomplish this by manufacturing bespoke, high-quality, freedom-respecting personal computers coupled with an operating system at the forefront of technology, in an easy-to-use package that represents the logical choice for people who care about securing the future of compuitng.
