Rethinking Everything

The past two years have been really disruptive to society as a whole. This disruption has caused people to take a fresh look at past choices.  We are all making big changes. We are re-evaluating our values. We rethinking just about everything. What is truly important? Where and how do we live and work?  How do we spend our time? We all have had to find multiple options that could work better for us in our context.

Looking more broadly, these times have urged humanity to look beyond conventional options. Scientists looked at alternatives to the traditional vaccine to mass-produce, thanks to innovative bio-technology. Business leaders have had to look beyond mass-layoffs to renegotiate fixed wages and work. Humankind discovered the power of pandemic pods, micro-offices and tele-health. Finding alternatives has been the common thread.

At Purism, we are continuing to grow and build a sustainable future. We are grateful to win the support of millions. Purism started as a Social Purpose Corporation (SPC) in 2014. “When I started Purism, I wanted to avoid toxic investment; I didn’t want to focus entirely on shareholder value.” says Purism founder, Todd Weaver.

Purism publishes its founding SPC documentation on its website. This distinction is more than just marketing and communications effort – it’s a way for Purism to show the depth of credibility, an aspect that has become critical as we continue to expand our product line as well as our design philosophy.

Purism has created a sophisticated portfolio of digitally responsible, high-quality, and safe products, services, and tech add-ons that allow people the freedom and choice to ‘opt-in’ to features of Big Tech and keep them isolated.  Weaver elaborates, “It is always about convenience and control, it is currently convenient to use products that control you, and until there is a convenient alternative where you retain your freedom and control, society will continue to suffer from digital rights oppression.”

Purism provides all the intellectual property of its research and development to the people, through the use of public owned licenses, also known as the Free Licenses. François Techene, Purism’s Creative Director vouches that this is a pioneering move to improve how technology companies create products and do business.

The past couple of years have been fraught with immense supply chain challenges. While we have always maintained a remote and globally-distributed workforce, the supply chain challenges over the past two years have been incredibly disruptive. These have caused Purism to take a fresh look at how we are approaching manufacturing and fulfillment. We have made some big changes including moving away from Just In Time (JIT) fulfillment to holding much more stock for our products.

We have come out of the past few years stronger, and 2022 promises to be a great year as we maintain larger inventories and improve lead times.
