Apple is accelerating its shift of iPhone production from China to India, aiming for a complete transition by 2026.

Driven by rising U.S.-China trade tensions and tariff pressures, Apple has already begun trial production of the iPhone 17 series in India. Reports suggest the company plans to produce over 60 million iPhones annually in India to meet U.S. demand alone.

While India’s expanding manufacturing base, spearheaded by contract manufacturers like Foxconn, provides new opportunities for Apple, challenges remain. China has started delaying the export of critical manufacturing equipment needed to scale Indian production—highlighting the geopolitical complexities companies now face.
