It is not just important to deliver products that respect people and their rights to privacy, security, and individual freedoms, it is important to make sure those products are of high quality and long lasting. We iterate our hardware versions and new products with a care for quality and component selection that we believe will make our customers proud to use and show off. From the hardware kill switches to the anodized aluminum to the fast and powerful chipsets selected, we work hard to source the best quality for our products.
Professional Grade Equipment
We produce all our creative content with our own gear. We even provided a fun and detailed post showcasing the power of the Librem 14 by making a professional quality commercial video of it. This video was made entirely with the Librem 14 itself. It included everything that our creative team loves doing, 3D animations, 2D (hand drawn) animations, real world cinematic shots, all together with some nice rhythm and cool transitions. Selecting high-quality components and building high-quality computers allows Purism to compete in the high-end computing market while staying true to our beliefs that put powerful tools under your complete control.

Built to Last
Hardware, be that the full-metal-chassis of the Librem 5 and Liberty Phone, to the OLED screen on the Librem 11 tablet, to the chassis mounted hinges and ports available on the Librem 14 laptop are all prioritized as part of our Articles of Incorporation stating: “The Corporation will source, and manufacture the highest quality hardware. The Corporation will endeavor to source the best component parts that operate using free/libre and open source software. When considering the selection of parts, The Corporation will weigh such issues as privacy, security, freedom, ethical working conditions, environmental impact, and performance, among other factors.”
Software to Last
PureOS improves with age and as history has shown by our upgrades of the OS on the Librem 5 and Liberty Phone that those improvements have increased battery life and improved response times for common uses. This is the opposite trends our Big Tech competition does with their OS releases—their common approach is to upgrade which slows down devices in favor of purchasing newer product—called planned-obsolescence. Purism builds software to last as part of our quality of product goals.
Made in USA Electronics
The Librem Key (a USB Security Token Made in the USA) and Liberty Phone both have Made in USA Electronics all done at the Purism facility in the United Stated of America. This offers a secure supply chain within the United States by manufacturing devices in the USA while adhering to strict US labor, environmental, and materials laws.

Kill Switches!
Purism puts the product owner in control over their devices by providing hardware kill switches to disconnect the cellular modem, WiFi, Bluetooth, microphone, & camera on our phones, and the WiFi/Bluetooth and Camera/Microphone on our laptop, making sure no person, hacker, nor intrusive app developer can monitor or track the end user. This is a quality of product design decision that we are proud to include in nearly all our products and certainly planning on including in all our products in the future.
On the Librem 5 phone and Liberty Phone we also have Lockdown Mode, which combines hardware kill switches and puts it onto another level.
Tamper Detection
Purism offers Anti-Interdiction services for the Liberty Phone, Librem 5 phone, Librem 14 laptop, Librem Mini PC, and Librem Servers to help secure all products from tampering before, during, or after the manufacturing and shipping process. Combined with PureBoot on some of those devices gains a cryptographic guarantee that your device can detect tampering.
When you look at all these differentiators together you can quickly see that quality of product is an important part of the Purism offering.
